TPT’s mission is to enrich lives and strengthen our community through the power of media.

Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is a nonprofit public media organization dedicated to enriching lives and strengthening communities through trusted public affairs coverage, award-winning documentaries, enriching children’s programming, and lifesaving emergency alerts. Reaching audiences across Minnesota and beyond, TPT shares stories that reflect the depth and breadth of our region. Through television, streaming and community engagement, we create lasting impact—fostering curiosity, connection and lifelong learning for generations to come. By including TPT in your estate plans, you help to ensure that this vital work continues to inform, inspire and uplift future generations.

Twin Cities Public Television has created a separate organization, the TPT Foundation, to hold long-term funds that support the mission of TPT. Its purpose is to receive, hold, and invest contributions from donors who provide estate gifts to us. There are three important advantages to a separate foundation:

  1. Investment Management – Donors will have the assurance that their generous gifts are professionally managed as long-term investments.
  2. Stewardship – The Foundation Board of Directors will provide governance and oversight of TPT’s long-term funds.
  3.  Accountability – As a separate organization, the TPT Foundation will file its own IRS return, called a 990, which is a publicly available document. Transfers of funds to TPT – whether the typical 5% annual endowment distribution or additional investments to support innovation and new programming – will have oversight by the TPT Foundation Board of Directors.
